Here tomorrow, gone today, we're a part of the secret parade...

I have listened to The Afters a lot lately.  Hmm.  I wonder why that is...

I am making bagels right now.  I hope they work.  They are sort of funny and lumpy looking.  Hehe.  Anyway, there are ten of them, and one is for Andrew.  Hopefully they are really yummy.  I am sort of excited about them.

Tomorrow I leave for the Winter Retreat!  I am really excited for it.  I am pumped to see Ryan Seibert again, who was our translator in Mexico.  He's a wicked sweet guy.  Plus, retreats are fun.  And we get to swim!

I love making playlists to go along with things.  Right now I am making one that is life background music.  Haha.  I think it's fun.  I would be curious to see what other people would choose as background music to their lives.  In fact, I think I will ask you.  So, if you were to choose five songs to represent the background music to your life (right now, forever, whatever) what would they be?  I will have to decide and get back to you, but now I will leave you to ponder that.

Sincerely,
Mara the Butterfly

  1. You inspired me to think of a list. I'll be the first to post my background music.

    1. Come Away with Me - Norah Jones - because Norah Jones music is literally the calming background music to my life filled with loud, crazy male children. I turn her on and tune the noise out.
    2. Must Have Done Something Right - Relient K - because I am married to the most wonderful guy ever in the history of the world. He is a little crazy, and sometimes he drives me bonkers (smile), but there is no one better. I'm quite certain.
    3. Absolute - TFK - because any TFK song makes me think of my 3 favorite little guys (but you know that already).
    4. I Know You're There - Casting Crowns - because the lyrics are all about how I want to be living my life.
    5. The Jury is still out on this one, but probably something by Tim Mcgraw or Kenny Chesney, there will always be a country music fan deep down inside of me.

  2. I think this one is mine, but it was somewhat difficult to decide. Every song I choos means

    1. When I Hear The Praises Start by Keith Green - I grew up with this song and it's the one God used to draw me back to Him.

"My child, my child, why are you weeping?
You will not have to wait forever
That day and that hour is in My keeping
The day I'll bring you into heaven

For when I hear the praises start
My child, I want to rain upon you
Blessings that will fill your heart
I see no stain upon you
Because you are my child and you know me
    To Me you're only holy
    Nothing that you've done remains
Only what you do in Me"

    2. Anyway by Nichole Nordeman - My mind will never fully grasp a holy God seeing past my layers of grime, but I will be forever grateful.

"A gallery of paintings new and paintings old
    Guess it's no surprise that
    I'm no Michelangelo
Every layer of mine hides a lovely design
It might take a little patience
It might take a little time

    But You called me beautiful
    When You saw my shame
And You placed me on the wall
    Anyway"

    3. You Are My Joy by David Crowder Band - This song is nearly perfect and the last few lines could have been written by me. The lines about laughing. *laugh*

"And He set me on fire and I am burning alive
With His breath in my lungs
    I am coming undone
And I cannot hold it in
    Or remain composed
    Love's taken over me
    So I propose
    The letting myself go
    I am letting myself go..."

    4. In Christ Alone by Getty and Townsend - I can hardly contain myself when I hear it or sing it.

"There in the ground His body lay,
    Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
    Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ."

    5. You Are My Sunshine - *grin* It's the perfect song for a mommy.

  3. I forgot to finish the beginning. *laugh*

    I meant to say,"Everything I choose means another song I can't choose."
